Ms. Chantell Tarver

My name is Chantell Tarver, M.Ed. and I received my Bachelors of Arts in Early Childhood Education, with a minor in Spanish, from Clark Atlanta University. I received my Masters of Arts in Educational Leadership from Kennesaw State University. My 20 year career in education brings skill in bilingual/dual language instruction, district curriculum writing, standard setting for academic state testing, data studies, and advocating for at-risk youth consistently. I have worked at the public and charter school level as an instructor, Assistant Principal, and Principal.

I firmly believe that a school leader striving for success must believe in the optimal success of each student while placing the most qualified personnel in place to carry out the mission and vision.

I am excited to start this journey as the Executive Director/Principal at The Palmetto School.

My favorite subject to teach is math, but I also feel the other academic subjects can be fun too!!

I have been married to my wife Stacy for 13 years. We have three sons: James, Jarome, and Kydan.  I do not live in Rock Hill but travel from Clover, South Carolina.  In addition to the five humans in the house, we have three dogs and four cats.

I have been with the school for the past five years. Prior to that, I spent eight years working in the Rock Hill School District at South Pointe High School in the Guidance office.

My husband and I live in Rock Hill and have a son and a daughter, but we are now empty-nesters. Going to the beach is one of my favorite past times!

Then, in 2000, I earned my master’s degree in educational leadership from Winthrop University. I taught in Florida for 7 years before moving to Rock Hill. I taught in Rock Hill for 3 years before having my children. I gave up teaching for 11 years to stay home with my children. This is my sixth year teaching at The Palmetto School.

I have been married for 18 years. We have 3 children. Jenna is 16, Adam is 14 and Jack is 12. They all attend Rock Hill Schools. In my free time I enjoy cooking, gardening, and spending time with family and friends.

Ms. Nakia

My name is Nakia Pressley and I am the proud mother of Donovan Maddox Pressley. He is a second grader at Rosewood Elementary. We enjoy going to church, hanging out at the beach and trying new restaurants. My son is developmentally delayed, which is one of the reasons that I continue to work with children that are born into unique situations. My son has taught me more about life than any book could ever teach me.

I am currently serving as the behavior interventionist for the Palmetto Charter School. I have been a substitute teacher in the Rock Hill school district, but I haven’t worked in any other schools capacity. I bring with me over twenty years of experience in residential settings, working with children that have been traumatized emotionally, mentally and physically. I graduated from Limestone College with a degree in business administration and a degree in business management, but working with children has become one of the greatest accomplishments in my life. I would like for children that face difficulties in their life to believe that circumstances are apart of their destiny, but it’s not their final destination.
