Hi my name is Shirley Roseborough, all my K-2 students know me as Mrs. Rose. I was born and raised in Rock Hill South Carolina. I graduated from Rock Hill High School. I moved to New York in 1978, I worked various jobs, but I worked for the US Postal Service for 20 years. I attended The Borough of Manhattan Community College where I earned an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education. I am married and I have one daughter. We moved back to Rock Hill in 2006. I earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from Grand Canyon University. I am licensed by the state of South Carolina since June 2013. I have been employed with The Palmetto School since 2012.
Hi my name is Susan Downs and I am the 3rd to 5th grade teacher. I recently moved to Fort Mill South Carolina from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania and I absolutely love it here. I hold a Masters Degree in Elementary Education and a certification to teach English as a Second Language. Teaching has always been my passion and I look forward to this next chapter at the Palmetto School. Outside of the classroom I love spending time with my family, going to the beach, and riding our horse Tucker.
My name is Mr. Carraway, and I am the 6-8 grade teacher. I was born in Darlington SC and attended Winthrop University in from 2002 – 2006 where I received my Bachelors of Science in Communication. After attending college and leading a very creative career, I entered the classroom as a substitute teacher. After a number of years as a substitute teacher, I decided to pursue another career as a certified teacher. I am an avid lover of the arts as well as design. In my limited spare time you can find me relaxing with my dog, Mr. Benjamin, watching countless shows from the National Geographic channel.
My name is Karen George. I graduated from The University of Central Florida in 1992 with a bachelor’s degree in exceptional child education. Then, in 2000, I earned my master’s degree in educational leadership from Winthrop University. I taught in Florida for 7 years before moving to Rock Hill. I taught in Rock Hill for 3 years before having my children. I gave up teaching for 11 years to stay home with my children.
I have 3 children. Jenna, Adam, and Jack. They all attend or have attended Rock Hill Schools. In my free time I enjoy cooking, gardening, and spending time with family and friends.
Hi! My name is Lindsey Derr, and I’m the Reading Coach at The Palmetto School. I am certified in early childhood and elementary education and have a Masters in Literacy from Clemson University. I also received Literacy Teacher, Literacy Coach, and Reading Recovery endorsements through graduate work at Clemson. Prior to this position, I worked for 14 years in Rock Hill Schools as an elementary classroom teacher, district academic interventionist, and Reading Recovery teacher. I love working alongside other teachers in a job where I get to exclusively focus on literacy!
I have been married for 12 years and have two sons, Jordan and Camden. We live in Rock Hill and love basketball. We travel often with my son’s team, the York County Legends. I also love to hike, volunteer, and try new restaurants.
My name is Deborah Feldmann, or “Ms Debs” to our school family. I have been the Bookkeeper here at The Palmetto School for the past two years, and have been a supporter of the school for several years before then. I am from the UK, and have lived in the US for 17 years, raising two sons with my American husband, Tom.
